The telecom industry is relying on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to effectively augment and automate decision making where humans can't keep up with the pace, can't deal with the volume of detail or are too expensive. It is probable that thousands or even tens of thousands of AI modules will eventually be deployed in a CSP. Managing AI at this scale brings problems of accountability, audit, and maintenance.

Aaron Boasman-Patel is the Vice President of AI and Customer Experience at TM Forum. In this role, he is responsible for setting up and leading the Forum’s Artificial Intelligence collaboration programme and the established customer experience and analytics work. 

Aaron has worked in the telecoms and associated industries for over twelve years. He graduated with an M.A. (Oxon) from the University of Oxford.
Rob Claxton
Chief Researcher, BT

Rob Claxton is a Chief Researcher at BT Research. He graduated from the University of York in 1993 with a MEng in Electronic Systems Engineering and has spent his career with BT in a variety of technology roles including work on signalling systems and software development for BT’s Intelligent Network platform. In 2005 Rob joined BT Research where his work focussed on network science with a particular interest in the applications of community-finding algorithms and the analysis of networks in a spatial context. Rob currently leads the Big Data Research team and played a key role in BT’s adoption of this technology. His team are actively applying machine learning and AI to real-world problems.

Janki Vora
Thought Leader in AI, IBM

Janki Vora (@voraconnect) is a Lead Data Scientist at the IBM Global Solution Center in Dallas, she has worked with IBM for over fifteen years. She holds a double masters degree in Computer Science from Georgia State University, and Statistics and Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University.

In her role, Janki combines her expertise in AI, Telco industry experience and her love for innovation to create cutting edge AI and Digital Transformation initiatives. She holds over a dozen patents. She has also authored several developer works articles and is on the industry advisory board for UTD’s Data Science program. She is an active volunteer for STEM programs and “girls who code” in the community. As an active participant and member of TMForum, she has contributed to TMForum’s Open Digital Lab initiative and Management Standards for AI.
