Watch webinar How to build and operate at the edge
Edge computing is poised to significantly reshape telecom networks as we know them, driven by 5G and IoT, but also gathering momentum of its own. It has the potential for capturing much more of the coveted enterprise market.
Some communications service providers (CSPs) aim for most of their 5G and IoT generated content to be stored or handled locally. For that to happen, CSPs need to put a significant edge-computing infrastructure in place. Yet, it is also not entirely clear whether network operators will be sitting pretty at the edge if they aren’t able to roll out edge infrastructure as economically as companies like Amazon, Facebook and Google did – particularly given the existing monolithic physical infrastructures they own.
In this panel discussion, we assess the state of readiness of the telecoms industry for edge computing and the strategies that different types of players are adopting.
